Join her at the Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN) to learn how to turn an animal photograph into an adorable, fun caricature portrait in glass all while learning about enamels and how to do reverse glass painting using a variety of mediums, tools and Easy Fire Enamels. December 9 See member Evan Burnette and several other glass blowers in action and buy their work, including lots of ornaments, at the Local Art Glass Holiday Sale and Open Studio, Portland, OR, 10 am to 6 pm (the Old Pickle Factory building housing the studio is a holiday treat all on its own)

PNW Glass Guild Potluck Holiday Parties

December 9 Beaverton OR (SW of Portland) 5 pm hosted by Linda Gerrard. The food in the past has been wow and the glass gift exchange can get exciting when people start “stealing”. Contact Linda to check with her on what to bring.

December 10 Seattle WA 11 am hosted by Karen Seymour near the zoo. Let’s talk glass! Show off what you’ve been working on and share ideas. Bring food and something glass-related & wrapped if you want to participate in the optional gift exchange too. Please contact Karen if you plan to attend so we have enough chairs etc.

December 17 Vancouver WA 3 pm hosted by sponsor Melt Art Glass. Bring snacks etc. and celebrate the color that glass gives to our lives during this dark time of year with fellow glass enthusiasts. June 23,2024 @ 3:30PM-4:30PM Pacific Time Via Zoom

What is it?  Creating imagery with finely powdered black glass on a sheet glass substrate. Sgraffito is a subtractive technique; light areas are created by scraping away the powdered glass, while dark areas are made by adding piles of powder.  The finished drawing is very vulnerable until the piece is fired in a kiln so don’t sneeze!  We will be working to complete 30 fused glass powder sgraffito sketches in 30 days. Getting started may be difficult and you may not have experience using glass powders in this way. I hope though that you accept  the challenge feet-first and I promise you will improve by leaps and bounds over the next 30 days! We will begin on July 1st after learning how to do do it, so get your black powder ready…

We will also review the 2024 Gathering of the Guilds.

April 28-30 Gathering of the Guilds in Portland OR See lots of member-vendors and lots of member-volunteers. There is still time for you to be one of them: volunteer or even log on and buy a Spotlight pedestal or the remaining space in the group booth. There’s also a charity table at which the Guild will sell your work to benefit Mercy Corps.

April 29-30 Art In Bloom Seattle‘s garden art studio tour and sale: see members Karen Seymour, Bridget Culligan, Charles Friedman, Janiene Fitzpatrick and about 20 other artists.

April 30 **Deadline** to apply to sell in the Guild’s Rose Festival booth in Portland OR Memorial Day 4-day weekend and 2 weekends in June $50/day, no commission.
