Recent Events Newsletter Photo Contest

Have you or will you take photos of a glass related event between September 8th and October 25th? If so, you can submit them to the Newsletter Editor by email in the proper format (600 px wide in jpg or jpeg format) by October 25 for use in the November recent Events section of the newsletter, and be eligible to win a prize in the drawing – one of Karen Seymour’s beautiful glass bowls, or a $35 gift certificate to sponsor Northwest Art Glass. Each event (not each photo so send your best one) gets you one entry in the drawing but only if the photo meets the above cropping, sizing, and formatting criteria.

If you’re not sure how to format your photos, you’re in luck, as the next Guild General Meeting (see Sept 27th below) will show you how to prepare and resize photos using a free version of Canva! Learning this skill will reward you with website and social media images that load quickly rather than risk people giving up on seeing the image and moving on.

  • Register NOW for Open Studios

Glass Art Tour & Sale Sept. 14-15, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Portland/Vancouver: Register by Aug 15th (next Thurs.)

Showing your work at a studio tour is very different from doing an art show. You don’t have to pack and unload everything in a few hours plus you often end up with a cleaner studio. The customers are genuinely interested in why and what you do. There are fewer of them but they BUY. It’s lots of fun. You’ll spend two days talking about glass and find yourself inspired and energized to make more art.

This greater-Portland/Vancouver area studio tour is in its 9th year. Current PNW Glass Guild members who have their studio or home in these five counties:  Columbia, Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas (Oregon) or Clark (Washington State) are encouraged to register to be on the tour. Some already registered studios have space for guests (you must be a current PNW Glass Guild member to participate). More guest artists generally means more customers stop by your location.
Here’s the link to the registration info. Please contact Linda Gerrard if you have questions.

October 19-20 Seattle studio tour may have space for a couple more guest artists.

The PNW Glass Guild sponsored Glass And Decor studio tour and sale is part of Refract, the big Seattle area 4-day glass celebration. Contact Karen Seymour for more info, please include phone #, best time to call, and a link to your website or PNW Glass Guild Members’ Gallery page.
