Correction: Need a glass artist who can do artistic sandblasting to replace a broken plate.

I received this request from Eric Freund and Jackie Young ericfreund01@gmail.com:  “One of our prized plates was unfortunately broken beyond repair. We were wondering if we could work with you in creating a plate similar to the one we lost. ”  I do not do sandblasted etching but was hoping someone in the guild might be interested in talking to them about this project….or may know a glass artist who is not in the guild but does this type of work.  The design is two iris stems on a 16 inch clear plate….not just etched flat/matte but lightly carved and very well done.  If the photo I have is too large to post here Eric can email you a photo directly.    They are located in West Linn, OR. and his email is attached to this post.  Thanks!    -Greta Schneider

Multnomah Arts Center Gallery, Call to Artists

Deadline to submit: 12 pm on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023

The Multnomah Arts Center (MAC) Gallery in Portland serves as an educational venue for the community and a supportive environment for artists to share their work. Artists who show here are residents of Oregon and southern Washington near Portland and are selected by a group jury process. Our exhibits reflect the artistic dynamism of the area, with an emphasis on the following: a wide spectrum of media is shown throughout the year; diverse subject matter is explored; unique perspectives are shared; multidisciplinary and intersectional approaches are appreciated.

The 2023 Call for Artists is now open. Emerging and experienced visual artists are invited to apply. During the jurying process, 2-D and 3-D artists are typically paired to exhibit together. Requests for solo or group shows are also welcome. Musicians, writers, filmmakers and other artists whose work would complement the visual arts exhibits may also submit proposals. More information and the link to the online application can be found at www.multnomahartscenter.org/gallery.

The application deadline is 12 pm on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023. All submission materials will be reviewed by the group jury, and artists will be notified of the jury’s decisions by early February 2023. Exhibits will be scheduled between May 2023 – April 2024.

Email gallery@multnomahartscenter.org or call 503-823-2787 with questions.

Seeking a memoriam piece

| 0

Greetings,

I have about a tablespoon of my father’s ashes I would like incorporated into a piece I can put on a window sill. I have seen from an artist that used to be located in Hood River what amounted to paperweights with a swirl of color and rolled in a loved one’s ashes. I was thinking of something like that. I would enjoy hearing about any ideas you might have.

I was wondering if anyone in your group knew someone who is good at photoshop.  I am looking for someone who can teach me how to crop, duplicate, and customize an image of glass to help visualize custom multi-piece projects.  You can contact Kyle at (503)707-6988.  glassbykyle@gmail.com

Need help to identify the artist that created this art glass

| 0

Many years ago while on vacation I visited an art gallery near the Oregon coast and purchased this fascinating art glass. It measures 4” on each side however one side is angled. It is signed with an etching pen but I can’t make out the name as it is very small. I am hoping someone in your organization might recognize the piece and identify the artist. I rotate it every now and then to get a new interesting view.  jdebess@flash.net

Repair needed

I need help with a repair.
The artist John Nutter in B.C. sent me a glass feather which broke in transit. It is a clean break. He says it is a simple fix with UV glue. One of you would know. Is there someone who would help me fix this piece? I’m in SE but would bring the piece. See below. It’s about 14″ long.
Hopefully

Studio Safety

Does anyone know of someone who can advise me on how to keep my home studio safe for myself and my family.  I’m wondering how people clean the air in their studios.  I’m specifically concerned about the particles left in the air from Thin Fire after firing fused glass.  Are there professionals who can come to a studio to advise on important safeguards for home studios.  I do fused glass and live in Portland.  My phone # is: 503-421-5888.  My email is farmrage1@msn.com
