General Meeting via Zoom: Annual Meeting and Torchwork: Not Just Beads
October 26, 2025 @ 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm Pacific Time:via Zoom
Torchwork: Not Just Beads! Discover the Art of Shaping Glass with Fire
This will also be our Annual meeting for election of officers. We will be electing a President, Co-Vice President, Website Team Lead and Newsletter Team Lead. Please join us and cast your votes. Please contact president Lesley Kelly to volunteer for one of these positions.
Curious about the magic behind glass art? Join us for an engaging presentation that goes beyond the basics. We’ll explore the incredible world of torchwork (also known as lampworking), a precise form of glassblowing that uses a bench-mounted torch to create stunning works of art.
While beads are a very popular and accessible entry point to torchwork, the art form’s capabilities extend far beyond. Artists create a vast array of intricate and beautiful items. Join us to hear from local artists as they share: the essential tools, fundamental techniques, and beautiful creations.
Speakers: Kathy Johnson of Glass Expressions, Serena Smith of The Makerspace 97058, and Janis Miltenberger
Biographies of the candidates for office:
President: Barb Kienle (no other candidates)

Barb Kienle, a retired education administrator, now channels her energy into the luminous medium of fused glass. A Guild member since 2021, she enjoys interacting with and learning from other artists. Her work is a celebration of the natural world, drawn to its exquisite details and capturing the serenity of forests, the vibrancy of flowers, and the peaceful beauty of the beach.
Co-VPs: 2 candidates wish to split the position, Linda Schnell and Pam Archuleta (no other candidates)

Linda Schnell, an artist with arthritis, has an enduring fascination with the intersection between art and science. Her background in engineering along with passion for collecting beach treasures inspires Linda to create mixed-media art including historic sea glass with ceramics and fused glass. Her latest marine life pieces may be enjoyed at Parklane Gallery in downtown Kirkland, WA.

Pam Archuleta began creating glass art about 15 years ago and has been a member of the Guild since 2016. Her skills include glass blowing, torch working, kiln casting and fusing, with a special emphasis on pate de verre. Pam’s art is often reflective of her appreciation for our natural world, and she loves to bring elements of nature to indoor spaces through her glass creations. Her work mainly focuses on the exploration of water, floral shapes and natural geological processes. Her most recent large project was creating four 4’, 3-dimensional, kiln casted stars for the entrance of a church in San Luis Obispo, California.
