Showing your work at a studio tour is very different from doing an art show. You don’t have to pack and unload everything in a few hours plus you often end up with a cleaner studio. The customers are genuinely interested in why and what you do. There are fewer of them but they BUY. It’s lots of fun. You’ll spend two days talking about glass and find yourself inspired and energized to make more art.
This greater-Portland/Vancouver area studio tour is in its 9th year. Current PNW Glass Guild members who have their studio or home in these five counties: Columbia, Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas (Oregon) or Clark (Washington State) are encouraged to register to be on the tour. Some already registered studios have space for guests (you must be a current PNW Glass Guild member to participate). More guest artists generally means more customers stop by your location.
Here’s the link to the registration info. Please contact Linda Gerrard if you have questions.
The PNW Glass Guild sponsored Glass And Decor studio tour and sale is part of Refract, the big Seattle area 4-day glass celebration. Contact Karen Seymour for more info, please include phone #, best time to call, and a link to your website or PNW Glass Guild Members’ Gallery page.
Oct 17-20 Refract is the annual 4 day celebration of Seattle area glass that ranges from Tacoma to Everett and from live glass blowing to special museum exhibits to the Pilchuck Gala Auction.
Sat & Sun Oct.19-20 The Guild sponsored Glass And Decor Studio Tour and Sale, in north Seattle, is counted as just one of the nearly 50 different Refract venues. Stop by the 6 studios on the tour and talk glass with members Lael Bennett, Angie Heinrich, Stephanie Johnston, Debbie Marchione, Karen Seymour, David Smith, and Sandy Spear.
Oct. 19 in Washougal members Linda Roman and Kate Nicklos will be selling their work at the Holiday Bazzar. That’s Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm in the Bethel Community Church at 1438 B st
Oct 19-20 on the Washington County Studio Tour members Linda Gerrard and Rosalind Cooper will open their Beaverton OR studios (SW of Portland) so you can see where they work their magic and buy their resulting glass art.
MEMBERS: you can add YOUR events to the calendar by logging in and filling out the form at About>Contact Us. The volunteer will usually get it added within a day or two.
11 am the first Sunday of April: come to Karen Seymour’s house just west of the Seattle Zoo and talk glass with other artists. It usually runs to about 1:30. Bring a dish that will feed about 8 people. If you want something to drink other than water please bring that too.
Show and tell: We love to see what you’ve been doing or hear what you are planning. Bring your glass questions too — there’s usually quite an accumulated level of experience at the table.
RSVP to Karen so she has an idea of how many are coming — it’s really difficult to get out more chairs etc. after people start arriving.
